About the Third Age

The Third Age designates the “bonus years” of extended middle age and active elderhood, roughly from age 50 to frail old age. Sometimes called Second Adulthood, this “grace period” presents both challenges and magnificent opportunities:

Challenges

  • Uncharted territory
  • Difficult transitions
  • Potential losses
  • Societal age bias

Opportunities

  • Better education, better health, and more vitality
  • More freedom, time, resources, and wisdom
  • A chance to live more authentically, realize dreams, and give back to society

Why is LifeCrafting for the Third Age important?

  1. The structured process enables you to create the life you want through your choices and actions, rather than drifting and hoping for the best while settling for less. Flexible planning allows for changing course in response to unexpected opportunities.

  2. It requires that you start with who you are now and what fulfills you, instead of how much money you have or need. From that key baseline, you can creatively choose how to manifest the life you want within your real financial and other constraints.

  3. It helps you understand and deal with the challenges and maximize the opportunities of these bonus years, with the support of others.
